susceptible to infection when taking this medication.

the medication.
Important points to know:
Capsules should not be crushed or opened. To
improve absorption, this medication should be taken on an
empty stomach. Antacids should particularly be avoided
for 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking this drug. Many
other medications (Questran, Zovirax, Imuran, Theophylline,
Dilantin, Benemid, and aspirin, e.g.) may also interfere with
mycophenolate mofetil. Sunscreens should be utilized, and
prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided. For women,
birth control should be practiced while taking this medication
and for 6 weeks after it is discontinued. It should also not
be given to mothers who are breastfeeding.
